Basket Workshop
Sandi McNeil is a teacher who lives at Buckhorn, Ontario. She has been making baskets for over 20 years. She makes exclusive use of the local materials found in swamps, ditches and forests. Sandi will willingly share her accumulated knowledge of basketry using asymmetrical, irregular materials from Mother Nature.
Sandi will guide the visitor through the steps needed to gather and process local natural materials from the plant life at Nichol's Cove Studio. Students will use willow, basswood and cedar to construct a basket.
Nichol's Cove Studio is located on 73 acres at the edge of the Canadian Shield not far from the shores of Pigeon Lake. The property is a soft wilderness with meadow, pond(with a beaver dam), wetland, and old forest environments. The well maintained trails make the property easily accessible.
